Ontario Drug Benefits
What you should know about the Ontario Drug Benefit plan. Through the Ontario Drug Benefit (ODB) Program, the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care covers most of the cost of prescription drug products listed in the Ontario Drug Benefit (ODB) Formulary. If you belong to one of the following groups of Ontario residents and you have valid Ontario Health Insurance (OHIP), you are eligible for drug coverage under the ODB Program ,people 65 years of age and older, residents of long-term care facilities, residents of Homes for Special Care, people receiving professional services under the Home Care program, Trillium Drug Program recipients. In addition, if you are receiving social assistance (Ontario Works or Ontario Disability Support Program assistance), you are eligible for ODB coverage.
Canadian Red Cross
The Health Equipment Loan Program (HELP) offered by the Canadian Red Cross loans medical equipment on a short-term basis to people recovering in their homes from injury, illness or surgery.
The equipment is provided with a health care professional's recommendation, for a one to three month period. Types of equipment available include: Wheelchairs, Walkers, Canes, Crutches, Transfer Benches, Raised Toilet Seats, Commodes, Bath Seats, Versa Frames and Reachers. The HELP program is offered in Ottawa, Belleville, Brockville, Cornwall and Renfrew.
