Event Details

This event is running from 1 November 2020 until 1 April 2021. It is next occurring on April 1, 2021

Are you interested in art? Do you want to learn more about Ocean species in Canada? Then we welcome you to Creative Connections, a community program provided by the Canadian funded organization Ocean Bridge (under Oceanwise).

The purpose of Creative Connections is to connect seniors in the community with volunteers to complete creative ocean art paintings. This program also hopes to provide education concerning ocean species and ocean conservation in Canada. Participants will receive watercolor painting packages which will include paint by number paintings, paintbrushes, and watercolor paints. Participants will then have the opportunity to work through these projects virtually with the assistance of a virtual volunteer in the community. Participants are free to complete this project with a family member/friend/caregiver if preferred over a virtual volunteer provided by Creative Connections. Individuals of all painting levels are welcome!

Each painting will take approximately 1 hour to complete and will be provided monthly to interested participants from November until April. Participants can choose which time works best each month to complete the painting. Until further notice, this program will be conducted completely online due to COVID-19 restrictions.  This program is completely funded by Ocean Bridge and thus all materials and services for this project are completely free! We hope to encourage the Ottawa community at this time and provide a creative outlet to those who may not be getting as much opportunity to do this at this time.
