International Folk Dancers of Ottawa (IFDO) meet every Thursday at Jack Purcell. Come out and learn new dances, meet new people and have fun. Partners and experience not necessary. The IFDO is proud to sponsor events for local folk dancers and the community at large, and stays in touch with other folk dancing groups and their events nationally and internationally. The IFDO meets regularly at the Jack Purcell Community Centre in Ottawa, every Thursday night (320 Jack Purcell Lane – off Elgin, just south of Gilmour). We meet throughout the year, including the summer months. The only times we don’t meet are when the community centre is closed, as for Christmas or New Years. International Folk Dancing is the traditional dances of many countries and cultures, from circle dances to line dances to couple dances. It is a chance to enjoy the music, rhythms and dances of countries from around the world. It is a few hours a week of fun for people of all ages.
