FoodWorks is a mobile food delivery service that prepares fresh, healthy and locally made meals to seniors who are at risk of losing their independence as well as individuals with disabilities. These meals are delivered right to your door! The goal of FoodWorks is to build and develop an inspiring and sustainable continuum of services to those who are at risk of losing their autonomy. Through this intergenerational project, our hope is to bring youth, seniors and individuals with disabilities together to strengthen communities and to address food security. Each meals costs $8 and includes: · A main dish · Two side dishes (a starch and/or vegetables) · Choice of dessert or salad In partnership with Causeway Work Centre, meals are prepared in Causeway’s commercial kitchen. Meals are delivered on cargo bicycles for 8 months of the year and by Vrtu Car Sharing during the winter season. Our route falls within a 7km radius of Causeway with the plan to expand as the enterprise grows. FoodWorks is dedicated to providing meals to individuals who are experiencing social isolation and a loss of autonomy. In addition to the meals we provide, FoodWorks staff may act as a liaison between our clients and their families and health care professionals. To receive our meals simply give us a call at 613-230-4663 x253 to speak with our Program Coordinator, Reem Buhaisi. We also accept referrals from health care professionals, like personal support workers and from family members. If you know someone who would benefit from our service and would like to refer them, please contact us! We deliver fresh hot (and cold) meals between 3pm – 6pm, 3 days/week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Our service can be provided on a short or long term basis.
